This work is an outgrowth of the author's linguistic work in Zuni Pueblo. It is a contemporary ethnographic and cultural study of Zuni impressions and perceptions of rock art lying within their ancestral lands. The book emphasizes the importance of understanding rock art in its total natural and cultural setting, as seen through the eyes of members of the culture that produced the rock art.
